The Aberdeen Boat Race returns to the River Dee this March, where the University of Aberdeen will face Robert Gordon University in an intense battle of skill and determination.

Last year, Robert Gordon University just clinched the title in the closest race in the event’s history – with just a quarter of a length in it and both teams smashing the course record. The race, now in its 22nd year, is sponsored by Aberdeen Asset Management and will see the two crews rowing a gruelling 3.5km course through the city – from the Bridge of Dee to Aberdeen Boat Club. Spectators are encouraged to line the banks of the river and cheer on the teams as they battle it out for the coveted trophy. The title race begins at 5.30pm, but there is much activity on the water throughout the day beginning with the toss for stations at 3.20pm. The alumni crews face off at 4.05pm, followed by the second crew race at 4.25pm and the media challenge at 5.10pm. There’s a score to be settled on the River Dee in 2017, and Aberdeen Boat Race spectators are going to be taken along for the ride. Follow the Aberdeen Boat Race on FacebookTwitter and Instagram.
