This past event was fully booked!

Aberdeen Jazz Orchestra, Aberdeen University Big Band and the UoA Ellington Singers join forces for a performance of the 'Sacred Concert' as part of the Aberdeen Jazz Festival.

Guest soloists: Jacqui Dankworth, Helena Kay, Richard Ingham and tap dancer Danielle Pirie Musical director: Pauline Black Choir director: Kathleen Cronie A very rare performance of Ellington's wonderful "Sacred Concert" in the stunning surrounds of St Machar’s Cathedral. Written for jazz big band, vocal soloist, choir and tap dancer, its rarity is not surprising. Both serious and swinging the music is reverent and hip: encompassing jazz, classical music, choral music, spirituals, gospel, blues and dance. Ellington called it “the most important thing I have ever done”. Www.aberdeenjazzfestival.com
