British Science Association Sci-Screen brings you a Valentine’s Day special with the award-winning, romantic, science fiction drama Her, which follows a withdrawn writer (Joaquin Phoenix) who falls in love with his computer's highly advanced operating system (Scarlett Johansson).Before the film, our guest speaker Dr Nir Oren will discuss whether it’s possible; and if so, the positives and pitfalls of losing your heart to a machine.Dr Nir Oren, from the University of Aberdeen Computing Science Department, researches how humans and computers make decisions. For example, can machines “think” using human reasoning and should we trust computers to make our big decisions?
