The speaker for this year's Lecture is Professor John Brewer, St Mary's University, Twickenham.

Professor Brewer was the first sport scientist to work in English Football, and a member of Sir Bobby Robson’s support staff at the Italia 90 World Cup. He was also the first sport scientist to work in English Cricket, and a member of the England team’s support staff for the 1992 Cricket World Cup in Australia.

He has regularly appeared on national and local TV and radio commenting on matters relating to sport, exercise science and anti-doping and John has been a board member of United Kingdom Anti-Doping since 2009.

He has completed the London Marathon on 18 occasions and is currently a consultant to the London Marathon as well as author of "London 2012 Olympics Training Guide to Athletics (Track)".Prof. Brewer served as a board member of British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) from 2011 - 2015, was chair of the British Handball Association, 2007 - 2012 (including London 2012 Olympic Games) and was chair of British Ski and Snowboard, 2012 - 2015 (including Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics when GB won first ever snow sports medal).

The lecture will be followed by refreshments from 7.30pm.
