This is a confidential and non-confidential paper recycling console. These are made from wood and are locked with an aperture designed so that items cannot be retrieved once placed into the console. The material is collected, shredded on site and then taken to be recycled. |
| This is a food and drinks can recycling bin. They are located at a number of locations across campus. They only accept rinsed food and drinks cans, both aluminium and steel. The cans are recycled if the collection is uncontaminated with any other materials. | |

| This is a computer container. This is used to accommodate redundant IT equipment, where it is bulked up prior to collection. 90% of the computer equipment is recycled whilst the remainder is sent to landfill. | |
| These large bins, known as OMB bins, are provided by the Local Authority (Aberdeen City Council). They are designed to collect domestic waste for recycling. These Recycling Points can be found at Hillhead and Crombie Halls of Residence. The bins at Crombie are slightly smaller and are colour coded 1280 Litre wheeled containers. | |
| This is an open skip for scrap metal. This is the only type of open skip we have on campus and is located at Bedford Road which is unaccessible to members of the public. The scrap metal is bulked up and collected for recycling. | |
| This is a Rear End Loader (REL) container used to accommodate cardboard. The name of the container is derived from how it is lifted onto the collecting vehicle. The cardboard from such containers is sent for recycling. | |
| Special waste containment | |
| This is a cin bin used to accommodate clinical and special wastes. These can be found in laboratory environments. They do have differing lid colours which identify the different wastes that go into them. Such waste maybe autoclaved, then landfilled or incinerated. | |
