Why Produce a Travel Plan?

The development of Travel Plans is something that is becoming increasingly important as we are seeing increasing traffic congestion in and around our urban areas. We are also seeing obligations being placed on organisations to develop Travel Plans as part of the planning process for new buildings.

Travel Plans have the potential to make a difference in the way that we commute and carry out our business.  The University has an impact on the local environment, local transport networks and our neighbours, which is caused by the travel patterns of our employees, students, suppliers, and visitors. We want people to be aware of their travel options, consider sustainable alternatives to using the car and recognise the impact that their journey has on other people and the environment.
