Staff Mobility
Incoming Teaching Staff
The University of Aberdeen welcomes teaching staff from partner institutions. In order to take part, you should ensure that a bilateral agreement for teaching exchange between your home University and the University of Aberdeen has been signed in your subject area. If an exchange agreement is in place and you are able to secure funding from your home university, you are welcome to contact the relevant Departmental Erasmus Coordinator in Aberdeen in order to discuss whether you might be able to contribute to a programme of study. It is advisable to do this as far in advance as possible in order to arrange for your teaching to be integrated into the existing programme.
Outgoing Teaching Staff
The deadline for teaching applications for the current academic year is 15 January.
Note: Applications must be submitted in advance of the visit taking place. Retrospective applications will not be considered.
Eligible staff may apply for Erasmus funding to take part in a teaching exchange with an Erasmus partner institution with whom the University of Aberdeen has signed a bilateral agreement for teaching exchange in the relevant subject area. Teaching visits are normally for a period of up to one week and must include at least 5 hours of teaching.
Eligibility
Applicants must also be employed by the University of Aberdeen on a minimum of 50% of a full-time contract.
Application Form
The application form for teaching exchange must be signed by both institutions in advance of the teaching visit.
The grant contract and the application form should be completed with the signatures of the applicant, the Head of School/Discipline and the partner institution concerned. Applications should be returned to
Erasmus Unit,
The Hub (2nd Floor),
Elphinstone Road,
Aberdeen
As funds for teaching visits are limited, it is advisable to submit an application as soon as a visit becomes likely.
Successful Applications
If sufficient funds are available, you will be informed of the amount awarded for your visit by the Erasmus Unit. No more than €500 can be awarded for travel costs, with further limited funding towards accommodation and subsistence of between €450 and €900 per week, depending on the destination. The amount of funding available will also depend on the number of applications received.
At the end of your teaching visit, you will be asked:
- to complete an online report on your experience and
- to provide a letter from the host institution confirming the dates of your visit and the teaching undertaken.
These documents should be submitted to the Erasmus Unit along with expenses claim forms for each currency and all receipts for which reimbursement is to be claimed.
Please note that all teaching visits and the related documentation (report forms and expenses claims) must be completed by 31 July.
Setting up a new Teaching Mobility (TM) agreement
If you would like to set up a new agreement with a particular university for Teaching Mobility only, please complete a TM proposal form which must be approved by the Academic Erasmus Coordinator in your subject area and your Head of School.
Please contact the Erasmus Unit for details of existing Teaching Mobility agreements in your subject area.

Staff Training
Eligible support staff may apply for Erasmus funding to take part in staff training with an Erasmus partner institution. In order for this to take place, the University of Aberdeen must have signed a bilateral agreement for staff training with the relevant institution.
All applicants will be required to complete a training agreement with the signatures of the applicant, the Head of School/Discipline and the partner institution concerned. As funds are limited, it is advisable to submit an application as soon as a training visit becomes likely. If sufficient funds are available, you will be informed of the amount awarded for your visit by the Erasmus Unit.
At the end of your training visit, you will be asked to complete a report on your experience and to provide a letter from the host institution confirming the dates of your visit and the training undertaken. These documents should be submitted to the Erasmus Unit along with expenses claim forms for each currency and all receipts for which reimbursement is to be claimed.
