Water Legislation

 Water Byelaws

The Water Byelaws apply to all plumbing systems connected to the public water supply, these are primarily to prevent contamination of the public water supply but additionally help users prevent wasting water.

Trade Effluent

Trade Effluent covers any liquid waste produced in the course of any trade or industry which is discharged to the waste water system. This covers water used in processes, for cooling purposes, and for washing.

The Univeristy does have some discharges from labs that are regulated by this legislation, and if you have a project, or are planning to set up a project that will result in chemicals being discharged to sewer then please notify John Kingsland for further guidance.
