With its 500-year old library and distinguished tradition of teaching and research, the University of Aberdeen has exceptional resources for postgraduate study in English. The English Department has a thriving postgraduate community and offers a range of postgraduate degree programmes. Taught Masters (MLitt) and research degrees (MPhil and PhD) are available in many areas of literature and language. Postgraduate degrees can be taken on either a full-time or part-time basis. The Department also has close links with other academic departments and research centres, actively encouraging interdisciplinary study and research. Some of our postgraduates have already completed a first degree at Aberdeen and decided to stay here to pursue their studies further. Others have previously studied elsewhere and been attracted to Aberdeen by its international scholarly reputation, innovative degree programmes and high standard of research supervision.
