Biography
Sumeet joined the School of Engineering at the University of Aberdeen as a Lecturer, in June 2009. Earlier, he was a Research Fellow (2008 - 2009) working on the Resonance Enhanced Drilling Project, a large research project currently ongoing at the School of Engineering, University of Aberdeen. Prior to this, he was a Research Academic at the Australian Research Council’s Center of Excellence for Complex Dynamic Systems and Control housed in the University of Newcastle, Callaghan, NSW Australia (2005 - 2008). During this stay, he was affiliated with the Laboratory for Dynamics and Control of NanoSystems and his work focused on various aspects of vibration damping and nanopositioning.
He received his Bachelors degree (B. E.) from the University of Pune, India and his M.S. and Ph. D. degrees from the University of Wyoming, USA in 1999, 2003 and 2005 respectively, all in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Robotics and Control. He worked in the industry for a year (1999 – 2000) designing stepper motor drives and controllers.
His research interests include control of dynamic systems, vibration control, nanopositioning techniques, robotics and smart structures. Other interests include trekking, nature and wildlife photography, travelling and martial arts.
