Current Research

Dr Ing currently works as a part of the Resonance Enhanced Drilling (RED) team. His responsibilities include overseeing experiments using the full scale drilling assembly, acting as lab coordinator, constructing and analysing low dimensional models for impact drilling and precise simulations of rock fracture using a particle dynamics approach. He is also involved in developing measurement while drilling (MWD) using nonlinear time series analysis methods to improve the understanding of formation properties in realtime. He co-supervises a PhD student working in this area, Mukthar Sayah. He is also a member of the Centre for Applied Dynamics Research, CADR.

Collaborations

Dr Ing has enjoyed a number of successful international collaborations resulting in journal and conference publications.

Currently he is co-investigator with Dr Pavlovskaia of an international joint project with the Russian Academy of Sciences on "Iterative maps for the dynamics of percussive drilling".

Since July he has been coinvestigator with Prof Wiercigroch on "New constitutive impact laws for dynamical systems" in collaboration with St Petersburg State University.

Dr Ing has published a number of papers with Prof Banerjee, a regular visitor to CADR.
