Biography
Christine gained her first degree from the Univeristy of Sheffield in 1975 and became a chartered structural engineer in 1984. She has more than 20 years experience of the construction industry, working mostly on the design of buildings. In 1995 she joined the University of Sunderland as a senior lecturer. After gaining her PhD from the University of Aberdeen in 2004, Christine was employed by the university as a research fellow until being appointed a lecturer in Petroleum Engineering in 2011.

Research Interests
Christine has largely focused on developing material models (mostly of granular materials - both bonded and unbonded) for use in computer simulations; together with the computational techniques required for their successful implementation. Some of these models have been successfully linked with commercially available finite element software for use by commercial sponsors. From time to time she has supported her theoretical work with appropriate experimental investigation.

Current Research
Christine is currently extending and applying the models she has developed to problems in petroleum engineering. She is also incorporating those models into meshless methods of analysis, focusing on modelling the behaviour of reservoir and associated formations during fracture, plastic deformation and particle damage. She uses optimisation techniques and the principles of maximum entropy production in the development of continuum models of material behaviour.

Teaching Responsibilities
Christine teaches reservoir engineering and the design of structural elements.
