Case study- Researcher

Most researchers can point to experiences in childhood that set their curiosity in motion: inspirational teachers, parents, books, holidays, TV programmes, museums, fieldtrips, and so on. I think we all have a duty to create experiences like these for the next generation: it is fundamental to our role as scientists. On the Highland Schools Tour, we tried to leave our young audiences with deep questions that will stay in their minds for years and motivate them to remain engaged with science and discovery. Talking to schoolchildren about science refreshed my enthusiasm for research by reminding me why I wanted to do it in the first place: to discover, to learn, and to share exciting new knowledge.
