Nuffield Research Placements (previously Nuffield Science Bursaries) provide over 1,000 school students each year with the opportunity to work alongside professional scientists, technologists, engineers and mathematicians. The scheme is supported by the major research funders, including the research councils. The University has hosted dozens of successful Nuffield Bursary student projects over the years, some leading to publications co-authored with the students. Many have been in the medical and life sciences and we're keen to maintain this track record, and indeed grow and diversify our involvement to other research fields in the physical sciences.
The resources below decribe the scheme and tell you what you need to know as a potential bursary student supervisor. There is also registration form if you want to submit a project idea to the scheme. The coordinator for the Nuffield scheme is Dr Frances Chapman who will be happy to anwser queries from anyone interested in hosting a placement.
