Launched in 2001, the Kist is a new online resource containing a wealth of material in North East Scots.
Edited by Les Wheeler, Research Associate at the Institute, and Sheena Blackhall, Creative Writing Fellow in Scots, the Kist features Doric poetry and prose on a range of topics, written by schoolchildren and adults:

To place Doric in its historical context, a selection of work by the many maakers who have been major contributors to the literary and linguistic heritage of the North East has also been included.
Bothy songs, ballads, and fiddle music can also be found on the site - and audio and visual clips feature too. The Kist is a fully searchable resource which can be downloaded for personal and educational use.
