Enjoy an evening of music from around the world performed by Aberdeen-based musicians.

Performance

Following up on the successful January performance hosted by the Elphinstone Institute, this will be the showcase concert of the Collective Compositions project.

The evening will be compered by Nigerian poet, Lola Dabiri, and will include, among other musicians:

  • Prithwis Banerjee, Indian singer and musician;

  • Noelia Gomez, Spanish vocalist;

  • You Li, Chinese violinist;

  • Xavier Ortiz, Colombian salsa singer and güiro player;

  • Soraya, Thai khim player with Saowalak Chalk, Thai singer;

  • Drummin' Aboot African Drumming Group;
  • the Elphinstone-Institute-hosted Polish-Scottish Song and Story Group.

The evening performance is free, but a suggested donation of £3 will go towards supporting the project.

Project

Simon Gall of SHMU FM has brought together Aberdeen-based musicians from around the world in his innovative Collective Compositions: SHMU Multi-Ethnic Recording Project. The project aims to record and showcase the diversity of music currently being played in Aberdeen, and hopes to encourage creative collaborations between the musicians.
