Physics with Science PGDE(S)

| Back to Homepage | Graduate |

(Also available as Physics and Chemistry with Science or Physics and Biology with Science - subject to meeting the relevant entry requirements of 80 credits in each subject).

Students on the PGDE course will study subject specific elements in their own discipline i.e. Biology or Chemistry or Physics. In addition students will also work across the science disciplines to prepare them to teach science in S1 and S2. Together science students will also explore and learn about teaching methodologies that are common across the sciences.

All PGDE Biology, Chemistry and Physics students must be comfortable in delivering generic S1 and S2 courses in school and this is the focus for the early part of the course.  Later in the course, the focus moves to the discrete sciences.

It is not possible to specify a definitive list of suitable degrees however the content currently covered in schools is directly linked to:

Electricity and Electronics, Kinematics and Dynamics, Energy, Radiation (including Light)

If you think your degree might be suitable please get in touch. If your degree content lacks one of the key areas you may be able to do some top-up courses before embarking on the PGDE program.
