| Back to homepage | Specialist Areas |

Physical Education is delivered as part of the BEd (Primary) and PGDE (Primary) courses.

The activities of games, gymnastics and expressive movement/dance are the focus, looking at 3 -5 and 5 - 14 programmes of study relevant to all stages of the primary school, from nursery to P7.

Progression and development of physical skills and knowledge and understanding of key concepts are addressed, using a range of teaching strategies and practical examples. Students own knowledge and skills base are extended and developed.

Planning, organisation and class management are highlighted, acknowledging individual children's needs.

The importance of developing life long positive attitudes to health and fitness through physical activities are also explored.
