Home Economics within the PGDE (S) Programme

| Back to homepage | Graduate |

Experiential learning is fundamental to Home Economics. While retaining its own identity and integrity as a field of study encompassing food sciences, food studies, textiles studies, technology, nutrition, family studies, hospitality and health, it also makes major contributions to interdisciplinary studies such as enterprise, creativity, sustainability and technological capability.

As a multi-disciplined and diverse field of study, Home Economics encompasses a range of components. The following undergraduate degree specialisms are common:

  • Consumer Studies
  • Health and Food Technology
  • Nutrition, Health and Food
  • Textile Technology
  • Nutrition and Dietetics
  • Consumer Product Design and Development

If you think your degree might be suitable, please get in touch. If your degree content lacks one of the key areas you may be able to do some top-up courses before embarking on the PGDE programme.
