About the Business Education Unit

The Business Education Unit offers both Business Education and Economics as Subject Studies Courses. Successful candidates will achieve a PGDE(S) which is required for teaching both subjects in Scottish secondary schools. The General Studies Course is studied in parallel with the course(s) and there are 3 School Experience Courses which must be completed at specified times.

All Business Education and Economics tutors have had extensive experience in teaching within secondary schools in Scotland, most having previously been employed as Principal Teachers of Business Education. All tutors are currently and have in the past been involved in developments in Business Education at a National level.

The Business Education Unit prides itself in the thorough preparation it provides to student teachers of Business Education and Economics and in the open, supportive and responsive approach it adopts.
