Art and Design

Students will have the opportunity to explore creative expression through media and skills development appropriate to the nature of Art AND Design education in the primary years. Suggested areas for exploration such as visual/ perceptual awareness, aesthetic response, evaluating and appreciating and manipulating a diverse range of media will form purposeful relationships with current theory, research, curriculum for excellence developments and other related developments

The Art and Design programme and learning situations will be concerned with the growth and development of students artistic/aesthetic sensitivity through a wide range of sensory experience. The conceptual content and structure of process/ product orientated experiences will explore a variety of teaching and learning situations appropriate to classroom practice.

Students will also be encouraged to reflect ontheir own creativity throughout to ensure meaningful personal and professional development.
