Religious and Moral Education (RME), Religious, Moral and Philosophical Studies (RMPS)

RME/RMPS retains a central role in Scottish education in the delivery of teaching about values, morality and world views. RME/RMPS is about skills such as discernment and reasoned argument, and importantly raises awareness of the multiplicity of philosophies (religious or otherwise) that exist and interpenetrate in twenty first century society.

RME/RMPS makes a contribution to wider interdisciplinary areas such as Citizenship, Health and Well-being and Sustainability.

RME/RMPS is an exploratory, philosophical and non-confessional subject that can provide important navigational tools for living today. This can takes place with children from 11-18, with almost all Scottish secondary schools offering certificate study.

A range of qualifications from Philosophy, Theology, Divinity and Religious Studies can be relevant to entry to the PGDE(S) RME/RMPS

Please contact Graeme Nixon (g.nixon@abdn.ac.uk) to discuss possible entry to the programme.
