WelcomeResearch in the School of Education is centred on four overarching themes, Teacher Education, Professional Learning and Leadership, Children’s Services and Educational Policy, Innovation and Technology, Social and Educational Inclusion. There is a strong emphasis on research for publication, to inform teaching and course development and to improve policy and practice in education and associated fields. The Scottish Teachers for a New Era and the Inclusive Practice Project awards, each bringing in excess of £1M funding to the School, have offered exciting opportunities for staff to be involved in cutting edge developments. The findings from these projects are having a major impact on the development of many aspects of teachers’ professional learning across Scotland and beyond. In the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise, 65% of the School’s research outputs were judged to be of international quality. The emphasis now is on building on these achievements and continuing to develop collaborative partnerships and networks locally, nationally and internationally in order to strengthen relationships and to inform the development of policy and practice at all levels. |
