The School of Education offers a Professional Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) programme as a route to becoming a Primary or Secondary teacher. The programme is aimed at graduates who have an interest in working with children in an educational context.
The University of Aberdeen has a proven record in developing innovative approaches to Initial Teacher Education and our PGDE programme is no exception. We were the first University in Scotland to bring the training of Primary and Secondary teachers together in one combined programme. This pioneering approach is founded on the move towards greater collaboration and understanding between sectors alongside the establishment of a new Scottish 3-18 Curriculum for Excellence.
