The Core Conditions of Person-Centred Counselling and Communication Skills

This course provides the basis of a professional counselling qualification with in-depth exploration of the qualities, skills and ethical considerations required to form safe counselling contracts.
Emphasis is put on developing a sound understanding of the basics of counselling theory, in particular ‘core conditions’ of empathy, positive regard and congruence.
This course explores the identification of counselling skills and gives consideration to the inter-relatedness of these skills within counselling practice.
Consideration is given to the significance of establishing a counsellor/client relationship and will explore the challenges of engaging effectively with clients.
Within a supportive environment the course introduces the concept of self and peer evaluation with specific training sessions on self directed learning, giving and receiving feedback in relation to the application of particular interpersonal skills.
