Courses within PGCE(P)

The thirty-six week PGCE(P) Programme is structured as a number of related courses.  Half of your time is spent on campus at the Faculty of Education where the courses are designed to develop the skills, knowledge and understanding required to becoming an effective, reflective Primary teacher.  The other half of the programme time is spent on placement in schools where you are given the opportunity to develop and acquire the required standards for initial teachers.

The courses consist of:

Induction Module (including one week of observation in a Primary School)

Module 1A (Middle Stages), Module 1B (Middle stages school experience)

Module 2A (Upper Stages), Module 2B (Upper stages school experience)

Module 3A (Early Stages), Module 3B (Early stages school experience)

Elective - choice of one of the following subjects: Gaelic, Modern Languages, ICT, Science.
