Some Background and Information about the MacRobert Building

Photograph of the MacRobert Building The MacRobert Building which houses the School of Education is located on the University of Aberdeen, King's Campus, near the intersection between King Street and St Machar Drive. Opened in 1967 as the Agriculture Building, it was subsequently renamed the MacRobert Building to honour the MacRobert Trust. The building was re-opened in July 2005 after a £9m refurbishment process to match the 21st century requirements of the School of Education.

The MacRobert Building and its location has much to offer undergraduate and postgraduate students and CPD course participants including:

Centrality of position - integration of School of Education students with the main body of students;
An ICT rich learning environment - All of Floor 1 is dedicated to ICT with approximately 300 computers in open access classrooms; wireless networking is pervasive throughout the building; interactive whiteboards are available in all classrooms; swipe card access facilities enable 24/7 access to ICT facilities; 'mobile labs' of computers and related equipment are available for teaching/learning anywhere in the building;
Modern and customised accommodation and facilities for Science, Technology, Music, Art, Drama, ICT and Home Economics;
Music performance and practice facilities are readily available;
Dedicated areas for CPD
On-site cafeteria and social area;
The MacRobert Building is also finished to a high specification (fabric and facilities).
