One of our selected trainees for round 5 has taken up a PhD place elsewhere and 3 months of funding at the University of the Aegean are therefore presently available. The consortium may therefore open a new call in early 2009.
The third annual training course was held at Instituto de Investigaciones Marinas, Vigo, in May 2008. It was attended by 16 trainees.

The fifth round of applications closed in June 2008. We received 9 applications including two applications for extensions by existing trainees. The four highest rated applications were funded and 13 training months were allocated. Therefore all available months have now been allocated. The project´s second newsletter was released in October 2008.
The fourth round of applications closed in October 2007. We received 5 applications including two applications for extensions by existing trainees. The three highest rated applications were funded and 18 training months were allocated. The project´s first newsletter was released in October 2007. Thirteen training months remain for round 5 (plus a possible 8 months which may become available due to late starts of four projects funded in rounds 2 and 3). The partnership has now submitted its second annual report to the European Commission and has opened the call for round 5 of applications.
The third round of applications closed in February 2007. We received 21 applications and 3 trainees were selected. We allocated 76 training months in this round, leaving 31 months still available. The second generic skills training course was held in Heraklion, Crete, between 30 April and 8 May, again comprising lectures and practical sessions with members of staff from the ECOSUMMER institutes and statistical training by Highland Statistics Ltd. It was attended by 16 trainees.

The second round of applications closed on 15 October 2006. In total, 24 applications were received and 5 trainees were selected. We allocated 156 training months in this round (of which 6 may become available again), leaving 107 (or 113) training months still available. The five newly selected trainees will start in 2007.
The second generic skills training course will be held at HCMR in Crete at the beginning of May 2007.
The First Annual Progress Report will shortly be available and a summary will be posted here.
The first round of applications closed on 15 March 2006. In total, 30 applications were received and 12 trainees were selected. We allocated 237 of the 500 training months in this round, leaving 263 months available.
The first generic skills training course was held at IEO in Vigo, 15-23 June 2006, with lectures and tutorials given by members of staff from the ECOSUMMER institutes and an intensive statistical training course given by Highland Statistics Ltd.
