Management
The Management Group has an established local, national and increasingly
international reputation for the quality of its research. The Group was
awarded a 3A in the Research Assessment Exercise undertaken in 2001.
Demonstrating the breadth of research and scholarship in the Group, virtually
all permanent staff members were included in the Exercise.
Research Activity
Members of the Management group are active in research
across a wide range of management areas. These include research into
SMEs and entrepreneurship,
work and family life, health management, organisational change, and
employment relations. The Centre for Entrepreneurship is managed by group
members
to promote research in topics of entrepreneurship and leadership with
findings disseminated to academic, policy and practitioner audiences. Management Group Publications
Members publish widely in a range of prestigious
journals covering management and cognate areas. Recent publications
have appeared in British Journal
of Industrial Relations; Work, Employment & Society etc. Group members
serve on numerous editorial boards. Members regularly publish books of
interest both to policymakers and to practicing managers. Postgraduate Research
Research degrees in management to Mphil and PhD
levels are available through full-time or part-time study. There is
a lively cohort of research
students in the Management group, contributing substantially to the
research and academic community of the Business School.
