Workshops and Advice Sessions
To support staff in their use of MyAberdeen we provide a variety of workshops and tailored training sessions.
Most of our workshops take place in the computer training classroom Taylor A1 or in the MacRobert Building at the Old Aberdeen Campus. Workshops can be held at Foresterhill by arrangement, please contact us at elearning@abdn.ac.uk to discuss your requirements.
Workshop topics
- Introduction to MyAberdeen (New Users)
This workshop will give you a brief introduction to MyAberdeen and an overview of its features to get you started on building your courses
- MyAberdeen Training Session for Advanced Users
This workshop will cover tracking student performance, course reports, setting and managing Early Warning System rules and using the Adaptive Release functions, including Review Status. There will also be an opportunity to discuss examples of good practice
- Avoiding Plagiarism Using TurnitinUK
Find out about TurnitinUK, an online originality checking and plagiarism avoidance service which compares student assignments with online sources, and learn how to use it as a formative tool for improving students’ academic writing
- Group Work and the use of Reflective Tools within MyAberdeen
This workshop will cover how to set up and manage groups in MyAberdeen. It will also introduce you to the use of blogs, wikis, journals and the discussion board
- Assessing Your Students in MyAberdeen
Find out how to create tests, surveys and questions pools and set online assignments within MyAberdeen. Learn how to manage course marks in the Grade Centre and provide feedback to students
- Everything you need to know about the Grade Centre in MyAberdeen
During this workshop we will cover uploading and downloading results to and from the Grade Centre, the ‘Needs Marking’ list, creating different types of columns, creating a CAS grading schema (for converting percentage marks to CAS grades), colour coding, and creating Smart Views. There will also be an opportunity to discuss examples of good practice.
