What you need to know about honours in brief:
- Honours degrees come as: I (First), IIi (Upper Second), IIii (Lower
Second) and III (Third)
- Unless you have exemptions or recognitions you will need to acquire
240 credit points at level 3 or above, bringing your total of credit
points to at least 480.
- 90 of the credit points must be at level 4.
- Honours courses in Divinity and Religious Studies are worth 30 credit
points.
- The dissertation is compulsory and must be taken in a student's final
year.
- Some courses, especially at level 3, are only available every other
year because they alternate with other courses. This should be taken
into account when you plan your choices.
- No more than 30 credit points of your 240 are normally allowed to
be outwith Divinity and Religious Studies. In certain circumstances
History and History of Art courses may be allowed to count towards your
total of credit points in Divinity or Religious Studies.
- For entry to honours students are normally required to be achieving
CAS marks of 12 or more in the subjects relevant for honours.
- Admission to honours may sometimes be delayed while a student seeks
to achieve the prerequisites.
This means that the student
takes the same courses as an honours student would so that, when they
have achieved the prerequisites, they may be transferred to honours.
