Postgraduate Degree programmes

 

Residence for research

At Ph.D. level in this School, it is necessary to be resident here, normally for three years.  Apart from University regulations, research degrees in the UK depend on a mentoring procedure and students work closely with their supervisors.  We are also required, by British Universities research threshold standards, to ensure that all postgraduate students receive research training and are part of the research community. There is a great deal of competition for places here and we normally give priority to those who intend to take part fully in the life of the Department.
