Postgraduate and Faculty Seminar in the Philosophy
of Religion
First Half-Session 2008/9
Ludwig Feuerbach-
The Essence of Faith According to Luther (1844)
For the first half-session of 2009/10 the seminar will concern itself with close reading and discussion of a single text by Ludwig Feuerbach, namely The Essence of Faith According to Luther (1844). We will concentrate this reading over a period of three weeks in late November and early December.
The set texts, in both English and German, will be made available digitally via this seminar webpage for roughly a week before each meeting of the group. We'll work with the translation by Melvin Cherno, (New York: Harper & Row, 1967). Page ranges below refer to this edition.
In the second half-session, it is proposed that the seminar consider several theological-philosophical works by G. Leibniz.
