Research Grant Applications

This guidance is applicable where provision for IT costs can be made within awarding body/grant criteria. Where appropriate, information should be included in grant application cover sheets.

Applicants should also note that only actual costs which will be additionally incurred due to the award of a single grant should be included in a grant application - the normal level of IT Services support including set-up costs (unless for non-standard software) is part of the "indirect cost rate" (this statement applies to full economic costing).

IT Services can provide academic staff applying for grant funding with advice, guidance, and indicative costs for IT resources and/or services. Please note, CoPS staff may have to access local support in the first instance.

Indicative costs may also be required for internal grant applications or additional costs outwith the lifetime of a grant (e.g. website maintenance). In such cases, applicants should clarify with their School/College, at an early stage of application development, how additional costs are to be met.

Applicants are advised that, where applicable, they should pay heed to the University's relevant Finance Regulations and Purchasing Guidelines.

Unless stated otherwise, all requests for support should be made to the Service Desk.
