To use the central proxy server in conjunction with Internet Explorer
These instructions apply to versions 7 and 8 of Microsoft's Internet Explorer (on Windows).
First select the menu sequence Tools | Internet Options

Then, from the pop-up window, choose Connections and click on the LAN Settings button.
Check the box Use automatic configuration script (leave the box labelled Automatically detect settings unchecked) and into the Address box enter the URL:
http://www.abdn.ac.uk/local/autoproxy.php (note the forward slashes, backslashes (\) will not work!)
You may need to restart Internet Explorer before the new settings will take effect.
