We recommend that you check this notice board once a day or at least every day on which you make use of University computing facilities. The best way to ensure you do this is to put it into your computer's start-up, as described in the following notes: Computer classroom usersYou have it easy. The message of the day file is opened automatically every
time you login to a classroom PC. Once logged in, you can re-visit the
file by clicking on the 'message of the day' icon in the 'common applications'
folder on the desktop. Or you can re-read it on the Web. Departmental PC usersTo have the MOTD displayed automatically each time you start up your PC, download the install-web-motd.EXE file and follow the installation instructions.
To check the installation, click on Start | Programs | Startup | motd This should open up a browser, displaying the 'Message Of The Day'. From now on, each time you boot up your PC, it should open the MOTD page, displaying the latest news. If you have any problems with the installation procedures, contact the Help Desk. If you wish to check the MOTD again after your initial PC startup, this can
be done by running the 'motd' from the Start menu (as described above)
