To order a digital image for research or personal use, please read and complete the application for images (PDF). Please note that the form is not automated but we do accept scanned and emailed copies along with postal copies.
Whole volume scanning and large items
£25.00 per hour
Whole volumes and items larger than A2 (such as maps or plans) are charged at £25.00 per hour as they generally require specialist handling and digital retouching. Please be aware that in the interests of preservation, we may not be able to digitise an item if it is in a fragile condition. Please contact imageorders@abdn.ac.uk
Audio files are charged at £20.00 per file saved to disc

Copyright in the prints rests with University of Aberdeen (University of Aberdeen/Aberdeen Harbour Board) and permission to reproduce a digital image in any form must be obtained. A fee is charged, see section below: Requesting an Image for Publication.
Requesting an Image for Publication
If
you wish to reproduce an image in electronic or any other form,
including those listed below, you must obtain the
written permission of the University of Aberdeen in advance. The fees are listed below. Please see our fullTerms
and Conditions.
Publication
in any form of hard copy (including book, periodical, partwork,
merchandise)
Use
in television, film or video
Publication
in any electronic form of an image, whether modified or not
Duplication
of an image in any networked or public site, or in any "virtual
library" (but you may incorporate the URL for an image, though
not the image itself, in your personal hypertext)
Public
display in any form of electronic or hard copy (except for a single
copy for use in a lecture or seminar)
The
production of multiple copies by any means for use in any teaching
pack
Permission Fee
£70.00 per image
Fee may be reduced for educational and charitable organisations and low print runs. Permission fees do not include the cost of the digital image, see table below.
