Curly Arrows logo

Curly Arrows are used in the representation of organic reaction mechanisms.  This web site is intended to help you learn to use curly arrows, and gain practice in using them to draw reaction mechanisms in an interactive environment that provides feedback on your work.  It is designed to be used alongside a lecture course and/or together with a suitable text-book - it is not intended to be a stand-alone application.

Before you use the tutorials for the first time, please be sure to read the instructions and/or watch the demonstrations. You will need to check that you have a suitable browser (see Notes if in doubt), and that Java and JavaScript are enabled, then click on the Tutorials button on the left. This will take you to an Index page, leading to the interactive sections, each of which is a "Java Applet". [The Tutorials may be used freely by all, but Assessments are available only to registered students at Aberdeen University.]

There are additional notes for each of the interactive sections which can be reached from the links on this page or from a button inside the relevant Java applet.
