Ann Memmott has Asperger syndrome and is the former autism adviser for Oxford Diocese in the Church of England, and is currrerntly advisor to the C of Es national Working Party for Learning Disabilities. Ann carries out autism advisory work for families and individuals wishing to learn more about ASDs, and for government, charitable and community ventures. Ann is a married mum, the Managing Director of a successful business, and a school Governor. Ann is the author of ‘Welcoming Those with Autism and Asperger Syndrome’, an online publication for church communities, accessible through this link: http://www.oxford.anglican.org/social-justice/just-care/welcoming-those-with-autism-and-asperger-syndrome-in-our-churches-and-communities.html The Guidelines were done in collaboration with a wide variety of contributors, including other individuals on the autism spectrum, parents, national and international experts in this field, and major charities including the National Autistic Society and Through the Roof. They are now being used as far afield as Australia and the United States. The work has also been ‘translated’ for other denominations and faith communities, and for secular organisations looking for an easy-to-read guide to the autism spectrum and how to include individuals needing assistance in simple and cost-effective ways. Ann is currently working on articles about her spirituality, and is writing a book on how to understand the world of an ASD individual.
