Welcome to the Centre for Rural Health

The Centre for Rural Health (CRH) was formed from the previously established Highlands and Islands Health Research Institute (HIHRI) in 2004. Since 2005, CRH has operated as a collaborative venture between the University of Aberdeen and the University of the Highlands and Islands, both institutions providing core funding and employing staff within CRH.

The CRH mission is to advance knowledge of health and health services in rural and remote communities.

GROUP RESEARCH STRATEGY

Our research themes have been re-written in light of our strengths:

"Developing and evaluating complex interventions to improve the health of rural people:

 - In developed and developing countries

- Through evaluating models of delivery of health services

- Through digital solutions

- Through a focus on child development"

We aim to achieve an international reputation for academic rigour in these fields through substantial grant funding, postgraduate studentships and excellent publications.

CRH provides expertise in: evaluation of health care delivery; rural health care policy and management; epidemiology; clinical trials; public health; systematic reviews; data linkage studies; qualitative research; research costing and administration.

Health takes a step forward in the Scottish Highlands!
