Having qualified from Charing Cross Hospital Medical School, Jane Austin held posts in London and Edinburgh prior to arriving in Inverness. Jane has undertaken various posts and is currently an associate specialist paediatrician with special interest in the epidemiology of allergic diseases. Having led several studies which examined the aetiolgy and prevalence of childhood asthma throughout the Highlands including Skye. Jane was also invited to be the Scottish collaborator for the International Study of Asthma and Allergies in Childhood in 1995 and is currently undertaking a repeat study in order to examine trends in asthma prevalence throughout Scotland including the Northern and Western Isles.
