Biography

David joined CRH in March 2003, and became an associate director in 2005. David graduated in economics from Edinburgh University. He then worked for 13 years as a research fellow in the Department of General Practice there, studying aspects of the general practice consultation.  He is an experienced health services researcher with interests in organisation and delivery of health services, particularly in primary care, and in remote and rural areas. He has had a particular interest in the delivery of out of hours services, having led the evaluation of the introduction of NHS 24 in Scotland. He leads the research theme entitled "Access to care and the delivery of health services". 

More recently David has been an important part of the centre’s interest in technology and health, and leads "Implementing Transnational Telemedicine Solutions, funded by the Northern Periphery Programme

He has been a co-author on over 48 peer-reviewed articles and been involved in over 37 funded grants, valued at over £3M in total . David is a  Principal investigator experienced in setting up and running collaborative research with a track record of working with service providers and policy makers. He has good experience of both quantitative and qualitative research methods and a track record of working with service providers and policy makers.
