Biography
Ann Clark runs her own policy and research consultancy Clark Consulting and is currently working on a number of research projects with the Centre for Rural Health. She originally graduated from Edinburgh University with an honours Law degree and has postgraduate qualifications in youth and community work and management, including a Master in Public Administration from Warwick University. Her research interests include organisational culture, rural service delivery, production and community resilience.
Following an early career in advice work and social policy Ann moved into management positions in voluntary organisations encouraging user participation in housing and health and social care services. Prior to setting up her own consultancy, Ann was for six years Head of Policy at the Highland Council, a unitary local authority serving 214,000 people with a budget of over half a billion pounds. In her consultancy role clients have included Glasgow Housing Association, NHS Highland, the Highland Learning Disabilities and Relationships Group and the Cairngorms National Park. She also works as an independent assessor for the Office of the Commissioner for Public Appointments in Scotland.
Ann has held many voluntary and paid positions in public life in Scotland including as a Board member of Scottish Homes, a Director of Social Investment Scotland and a policy committee member of the Scottish Consumer Council.
