New Students Information
This section of the Graduate School website has been designed for students who have been made an offer to study here as well as those in their first month of study. We hope it will be of use to you as you begin your studies here in Aberdeen.
We are extremely pleased that you have either accepted or are considering our offer to study within the College of Physical Sciences and we look forward to welcoming you, either upon your arrival on campus or online through our virtual learning environment. It is our hope that you will have a valuable and enjoyable time at Aberdeen.
Taught Students Starting February 2010
Students who have been cleared for admission will receive an e mail from the Graduate School Admission Unit, giving information about the first meeting of their Masters Programme. New full-time and part-time students should also visit the University's New Students website.
Research Student Induction
The Graduate School Induction Programme is for all new postgraduate research students, as well as those research students who have commenced their studies since the last induction course in early September 2009. All students are required to attend all induction events, if you have any questions please contact the Graduate School Office.

UK Council for International Student Affairs
The UK Council for International Student Affairs (UKCISA) is the UK’s national advisory body serving the interests of international students and those who work with them. Its purpose is to promote and facilitate international student mobility, to and from the UK, to help students (and others involved in international education) develop a global perspective and to contribute to human development, political stability, economic prosperity and greater intercultural understanding. You will be able to find up-to-date advice on immigration, fees, finance, welfare, health and tax.
Travel to and Around Aberdeen
The University is located within a city at the heart of a diverse and thriving regional economy. Aberdeen’s pivotal role in the international oil and gas industry means that it enjoys excellent communications and travel links. If you are travelling regularly on the bus around Aberdeen, then you may wish to consider buying either a First Week or First Month ticket. A First Week ticket gives unlimited travel for up to a week, while a First Month ticket gives unlimited travel for up to one month. Both are offered with a student discount. These can be purchased from First Travel Centre, 47 Union Street First Reception, 395 King Street. There is also a First 3 Month ticket, but this is currently not offered with a student discount.
