When the University of Aberdeen receives your form, an acknowledgement letter is issued and applications are passed to Graduate School Admissions Unit (GSAU). Once received in the GSAU your application will be reviewed and you will be contacted to advise if further information is required. If your application is complete it will be passed to the relevant academic selector for consideration.
-
Once your application has been considered it will be returned to the Postgraduate Admissions Office for processing and the GSAU will email you to advise this. The GSAU will not be able to advise you of the decision as the official paperwork is issued by the Postgraduate Admissions Office.
Successful applicants will receive either a conditional or unconditional admission offer. Under the terms of a conditional offer, applicants are requested to obtain or provide evidence of further or pending qualifications, that will allow them to satisfy our entry criteria. Such students may, for example, be awaiting final undergraduate degree results. Unconditional offers are issued to applicants whose qualifications already satisfy the entry criteria for their desired postgraduate programme. In addition, it is quite common for UK-based applicants for research degrees and candidates for postgraduate scholarships to be interviewed.
-
You will be sent an Offer Letter, and an Acceptance/Decline and Financial Guarantee Form. You must complete and return these to the Postgraduate Admissions Office. Once we have received these completed forms you will be 'cleared for admission' either immediately (for unconditional offers) or when you have met the conditions of our offer to you.
You will then be sent a Certificate of Acceptance which, if you are an overseas student, will allow you to begin arrangements for your student visa. Further information on the visa process is available through our International Students pages.
PLEASE NOTE: Certificates of Acceptance are not supplied for the Project Management, Software Project Management and Subsea Engineering (distance learning) programmes owing to their distance learning nature. -
Once you have been 'cleared for admission' you will also be sent, from June onwards, an Accommodation Booking Form and information regarding Registration and Tuition Fees by the Postgraduate Admissions Office.
You will also receive information, usually by email, from the GSAU and the relevant academic School to advise when registration will take place and any other necessary details regarding your programme.
Please take note of the most up-to-date advice when making your travel plans.
