Spatial Planning and Rural Surveying at the University of Aberdeen offers, through its professional programmes, an outstanding teaching and research environment to equip graduates to contribute to the urban and rural development challenges of the 21st century. Aberdeen and its hinterland provide a superb and stimulating laboratory in which to study the use and management of resources, both urban and rural. Students take advantage of this in coursework where classroom based tuition is integrated with field based learning. Beyond Aberdeenshire, field courses in other parts of the UK and abroad in Europe and North America broaden your training. Many of the staff are professionally qualified planners and surveyors who are also engaged in research on matters acutely relevant to policy makers at all levels of government. As a result you will be taught by some of the leaders in the field, ensuring that teaching is informed by the latest thinking. Reinforcing the practical nature of planning and surveying, classes are also taught by experienced practitioners who give unique insights.
