Aberdeen COGEME Proteome Service Facility 1 (PSF1)
The Consortium for the Functional Genomics of Microbial Eukaryotes (COGEME) is funded by the UK Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) under the Investigating Gene Function (IGF) Initiative. COGEME provides facilities for genome analysis for eukaryotic microbes, including important model organisms and pathogens.
COGEME Proteome Service Facility 1 (PSF1)
is led by Professor Al Brown and Dr Phil Cash, based in the Aberdeen
Fungal Group and linked to the Aberdeen
Proteome Facility in the Institute
of Medical Sciences at University
of Aberdeen. PSF1 is providing conventional 2D electrophoresis, image analysis
and MALDI-ToF mass spectrometry to identify proteins
whose levels change under the conditions of interest.
We are constantly extending our repertoire of organisms to provide proteomic analysis for a wide range of eukaryotic microbes.
We have performed many projects on a range of organisms.
Our data are PEDRo (Proteome Experiment Data Repository) compliant.
Our laboratory is one of the proteomics laboratories for the Qurator project which seeks to manage the quality of curated e-science information resources.
You are welcome to contact us if you would like to perform proteomics on any eukaryotic microbe, and encourage you to contact the Aberdeen Proteome Facility for proteomics work on other systems.
