Biography

My background is in History of Art and Education.  I taught French in Secondary Schools and in Adult Education before coming to the University of Aberdeen, where I gained my PhD in History of Art.  I became an Academic Skills Adviser in 2002 and also teach in History of Art in the School of Divinity, History & Philosophy.

In my role with the Student Learning Service, I work with both staff and students.  Our aim is to help students at all levels of study to develop their writing skills, critical thinking and general academic skills.  We work with students at all levels of study, from 1st year undergraduates to PhD, in workshops and individual study advice sessions.  We also collaborate with staff to devise tailored in-course sessions.  Along with Dr Christine Laennec, I work primarily with the College of Arts & Social Sciences but we also work with PG Research students in the Sciences .  Our belief is that every student deserves to reach his or her full potential, and thus we work with many very capable students who come to us wanting to enhance their academic performance even further.

For more details about the Student Learning service, please see our website.
