
Professor Mike Greaves is Head of the University’s largest College - Life Sciences and Medicine. He was formerly the Head of School of Medicine and Dentistry and is a Professor of Haematology and an Honorary Consultant Haematologist with NHS Grampian.
He has published extensively on haematological topics, particularly in relation to haemostasis and thrombosis, with an emphasis on the pathogenesis and management of thrombotic disease. His clinical work is in the area of general haematology, bleeding and thrombotic disorders.
Professor Greaves has served as Chairman of the Specialty Advisory Committee for Haematology of the Joint Committee for Higher Medical Training and as a member of the Curriculum Committee of the European Haematology Association. He has been President of the British Society for Haematology, the British Society for Haemostasis & Thrombosis, and the Scottish Haematology Society. He is a former editor of the British Journal of Haematology and currently Co-Editor in Chief of the Journal of Thrombosis & Haemostasis. He is Chairman of the Data Monitoring and Safety Committee of the National Blood Service and has also served as Chairman of the National Quality Assurance Panel for Haematology, the British Committee for Standards in Haematology and the Control of Anticoagulation Sub-committee of the International Society for Thrombosis & Haemostasis (ISTH), and is currently a member of Council of ISTH.
