Medical Imaging (MSc/PgDip/PgCert)

Introduction

Medical Imaging involves the physics and technology underlying modern diagnostic imaging, including X-rays, CT, Nuclear Medicine, PET, MRI and Ultrasound.

Our MSc in Medical Physics, established in 1968, is one of the oldest such taught courses in the country, and is held in very high regard in the UK and abroad.  Since then, in this ever-developing area of technology and medical science, we have added related Masters programmes, leading to qualifications in Medical Imaging and Medical Physics Computing.

All of these MSc programmes have been accredited by the Institute of Physics & Engineering in Medicine (IPEM) as providing the knowledge base for training as a medical physicist or bio-engineer in the UK.  IPEM is the professional body for Medical Physics and Bio-Engineering in the UK.

All our programmes offer excellent teaching facilities, combined with on-site training in a leading teaching hospital.

Our students have access to the latest facilities, including state-of-the-art Positron Emission Tomography and Magnetic Resonance Imaging scanners.
